These rules apply right throughout the supply chain to ensure that our avocados are grown in healthy and fair environments, are harvested only when ready, and are nurtured throughout their journey. When Respectful Harvest New Zealand avocados arrive on your plate, you can be assured you are enjoying a trusted, deliciously creamy and nutritious top quality avocado.

Optimal Harvest maturity
Our minimum avocado harvest maturity requirement is the highest in the world, resulting in creamy, delicious avocados. Prior to harvest all orchards are tested by an independent laboratory to ensure that fruit meets strict maturity requirements. New Zealand Hass avocados must reach a minimum 24% dry matter prior to allowing harvest.

AvoGreen ™
Our Avogreen™ programme provides New Zealand avocado growers with information about pests they may find in their orchard, how to monitor these and, if necessary, how to control them in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Compliance with AvoGreen™ is mandatory for all New Zealand export avocados and ensures fruit meets market requirements, is safe and suitable for our consumers, minimizes food loss and that it is produced in an environmentally responsible way.

Good Agricultural Practice – GLOBALG.A.P
All growers who want to export New Zealand Avocados must be certified to GLOBALG.A.P and comply with a wide range of standards across ethical trading, sustainability and safe food production.

Residue Assurance Programme
NZ Avocado carries out a residue testing programme on fruit from New Zealand avocado orchards to provide independent and factual information about the use of agricultural chemicals for pest and disease control and provide assurances to our markets and customers that residues limits are met.
